Superior National Forest Gunflint Trail Mile 31 Dispersed Sites
A series of informal camping spots along the north side of Hungry Jack Lake, marked by old logging road spurs. The area features 6-8 distinct sites with established fire rings and decent spacing between rigs. Most spots accommodate larger vehicles with room for slide-outs. The lake provides excellent northern pike fishing and swimming, with a sandy bottom near shore. Forest Service maintenance keeps the area clean but facilities are minimal.
Located 31 miles up the Gunflint Trail on mostly paved road, with short gravel spurs to individual sites. Snow can linger into May at this elevation. Popular with canoe groups heading to the BWCA, so expect company during summer months. Some sites have partial cell coverage on Verizon.
