Hickory Run State Park Sand Spring Road Dispersed Area
A handful of primitive sites scattered along Sand Spring Road, accessed through a gate about 2 miles past the main park entrance. The road winds through dense hardwood forest with small clearings suitable for 2-3 rigs each. Most sites sit near seasonal streams with decent privacy between spots. Fire rings are scarce — bring your own setup or use existing stone circles left by previous campers.
The gate is typically unlocked April through October, but verify current status at the park office. Road surface is packed dirt with some seasonal washouts after heavy rains. No services beyond what you bring, and cell coverage is spotty to nonexistent.
