Hickory Run State Park Boulder Field Road Dispersed Area
This dispersed area sits along an old logging road about a mile from the park’s famous boulder field geological wonder. Eight to ten informal sites spread through second-growth oak forest, most with fire rings left by previous campers. The sites offer easy access to the park’s extensive trail system, including the 15-mile Orchard Trail loop. Expect moderate traffic from hikers but decent privacy between sites.
Access via Boulder Field Road, which turns to dirt after the first mile. Road stays passable for most vehicles except during heavy rain when it turns to mud soup. The nearby boulder field draws crowds during peak foliage season, so this area sees spillover camping pressure in early October. Water available at the main park area, but none at the sites.
