Mirador Cerro Fitz Roy
This remote overlook sits on a ridge 8km west of El Chaltén, providing an unobstructed view of Cerro Fitz Roy’s jagged granite towers and the surrounding Patagonian ice field. The viewpoint sits at 850 meters elevation, accessed via a rough 4WD track that winds through lenga forest and alpine meadows. On clear days, you can see the entire Fitz Roy massif, Cerro Torre, and the glacial valleys stretching toward the ice cap.
The access track requires high-clearance 4WD and can be impassable after heavy rain or snow. No facilities at the viewpoint—just a small parking area and the view. Best light is early morning or late afternoon when the granite catches fire. Wind can be brutal, so bring layers.
