Billy Creek Recreation Area
Twenty-four developed sites spread along the Mountain Fork River in a mixed pine and hardwood setting. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post, with vault toilets and hand-pump water available. The river runs clear and cool year-round, creating deep swimming holes and excellent smallmouth bass fishing. Sites 15-20 sit directly on the water and book up fast during summer weekends.
Access requires 8 miles on Forest Road 6032, which can get rough and muddy after heavy rains. High-clearance recommended, though determined 2WD drivers make it during dry conditions. Cell service is nonexistent, and the nearest supplies are 25 miles away in Broken Bow. Campground typically opens April 1 and closes November 30.
