Loyalsock Creek Swimming Hole
Clear mountain water flows over sandstone ledges into deep pools perfect for a cold plunge after running the forest roads. The main pool is about 6 feet deep with a small waterfall feeding it from upstream. Loyalsock Creek stays cold year-round, fed by mountain springs, and the water runs clear over a rocky bottom. Local swimmers have been coming here for decades.
Access via a short walk from the parking pullout on Route 87, about 2 miles south of Forksville. The trail is well-worn but unmarked. Water levels are best April through October — winter ice makes access dangerous. No facilities, pack out trash. Swimming is at your own risk with no lifeguards.
