Allegheny National Forest Hearts Content Dispersed Area
This dispersed area sits adjacent to the developed Hearts Content Campground, tucked among towering 300-year-old hemlocks and white pines. Several informal sites accommodate medium-sized rigs along the forest roads, with thick canopy providing natural shelter and privacy. The massive old-growth trees create a cathedral-like atmosphere that’s especially striking in morning fog.
Access via Forest Road 2025 from Warren, about 18 miles on decent gravel. No facilities but close enough to the main campground for water and toilets if needed. Best spring through fall when the forest road is reliably clear. Heavy snow closes access from December through March.
