This backcountry dispersed area spreads across ridgeline clearings near 4,863-foot Spruce Knob, offering some of the best views in West Virginia. Sites occupy natural openings in the spruce forest with fire rings already established. Capacity runs 12-15 vehicles on peak weekends. Elevation keeps it cool even in summer, but brings harsh weather exposure year-round.
Access via winding Forest Road 112 (gravel, passable for any vehicle) then rougher spur roads requiring high clearance. Weather changes fast at this elevation — pack layers and rain gear. Best May through October; winter access possible but challenging with snow and ice. No facilities, primitive camping only.
