Quehanna Highway Mile 8 Dispersed Sites
Multiple primitive sites along the Quehanna Highway at the 8-mile marker provide access to the wild area’s extensive trail system. Sites are basic clearings in mixed forest that can accommodate various rig sizes up to full-size trucks and trailers. Fire rings present but bring firewood from outside the area due to emerald ash borer restrictions. Very quiet except during hunting seasons when orange is mandatory.
The Quehanna Highway itself is maintained gravel but gets rough with washboard sections. Sites are just off the main road with short access spurs. No facilities whatsoever — this is true backcountry camping. Water available from streams but must be treated. Gates may close sections during extreme weather.
