Allegany State Park Quaker Run Campground

Established Campground

Quaker Run sits deep in Allegany State Park’s backcountry, offering 50 sites spread across wooded hills far from the main park traffic. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table, with vault toilets and hand-pump wells scattered through the loops. No electric hookups here—this is primitive camping at its finest. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the park’s extensive network of forest roads and trails that connect into Pennsylvania’s Allegheny National Forest.

Access requires a winding 5-mile drive on park roads from the main entrance, but it’s all paved. The isolation means you’ll hear owls and coyotes instead of highway noise. Spring can be muddy and buggy, but summer and fall are prime. Sites are first-come, first-served, which keeps the crowds manageable but means showing up early on weekends.
