Worlds End State Park Campground
Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, this atmospheric campground sits in a steep-sided valley along Loyalsock Creek. The 19 sites are spread between wooded loops, most with electric hookups. Stone-and-log cabins from the CCC era can also be rented. The park’s claim to fame is the challenging Canyon Vista Trail that climbs 900 feet to dramatic rock overlooks. Flush toilets, hot showers, and a small camp store make this a comfortable base camp.
Access is via winding mountain roads that can ice up in winter. The campground stays open year-round but water service shuts off December through March. Sites book solid on fall foliage weekends – the maple and oak show here is legendary. Reserve ahead or arrive early weekday mornings for walk-ups.
