Playa Santispac Dispersed Beach Camping
This crescent-shaped bay offers some of Baja’s most accessible beach camping, with vehicles parking directly on firm sand just meters from the water. The cove faces west across Bahía de Concepción, providing spectacular sunsets and protection from prevailing winds. Water stays calm enough for kayaking and swimming most days. No facilities whatsoever — just pristine beach and scattered palapas built by previous campers. Can accommodate maybe 20-30 rigs when full, but disperses them well along the shoreline.
Access via a short dirt road off Highway 1, about 25 kilometers north of Mulegé. Sand is generally firm enough for 2WD, but check conditions after storms. No fresh water sources — bring everything you need. Gets busy with snowbirds January through March, nearly empty in summer. Popular with sea kayakers exploring the bay’s many islands and hidden coves.
