Santa Rosalía Pemex and Port

Copper mining town with reliable fuel, French bakery, and ferry connections to mainland Mexico.

Santa Rosalía feels like nowhere else in Baja — a former French copper mining town with distinctive metal buildings and the only Eiffel-designed church in North America. The Pemex station here is reliable, and the town has proper grocery stores, pharmacies, and mechanical services if you need repairs. The French bakery (Panadería El Boleo) still bakes real bread and pastries, a rare treat on the peninsula.

The town sits on the Sea of Cortez with a small port where ferries run to Guaymas on the mainland. If you’re running low on anything or need to send someone home, this is your best bet for services between Guerrero Negro and Loreto. The road down from the mountains can be steep and winding.
