Crabtree Falls Trailhead

Trailhead

Crabtree Falls Trailhead provides parking for Virginia’s tallest waterfall series — five cascades totaling 1,200 feet of drop through George Washington National Forest. The gravel parking area holds about 40 vehicles, with pit toilets but no water. Trail maps and safety warnings are posted prominently, as several fatalities have occurred from hikers venturing off-trail near the falls.

Access via Route 826 involves 3.5 miles of winding mountain road from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The lot fills early on weekends March through November. Winter ice makes the trail treacherous, and the road may be impassable. No overnight parking allowed — this is strictly a day-use trailhead.
