Badlands National Park Pinnacles Overlook
The Pinnacles Overlook delivers one of the most iconic views in the Badlands — a sweeping panorama of jagged rock spires, deep canyons, and striped sedimentary layers stretching to the horizon. The overlook sits right off the Badlands Loop Road with a large paved parking area and easy walking access to multiple viewing platforms. Early morning and late afternoon light turns the formations golden and purple, making this a prime spot for photography. Expect crowds during summer months and at sunset.
The overlook is accessible year-round via paved road, though winter can bring ice and snow. Strong winds are common, so secure loose gear. No shade at the viewpoint itself, and the exposed location can be brutally hot in summer. The adjacent visitor center offers restrooms and water.
