Brandberg White Lady Rock Art Trail
Granite gauntlet to ancient Bushman art
Brandberg’s granite maze isn’t for the faint-hearted — it’s where Land Cruisers go to earn their scars and overlanders discover what ‘technical’ really means. The trail begins at Tsisab Ravine, immediately hitting you with house-sized granite boulders that demand precision wheel placement and a spotter with steady nerves. You’re chasing the famous White Lady rock painting, 6,000-year-old Bushman art hidden in an amphitheater that requires a 45-minute hike from where your vehicle finally surrenders to the rocks.
Expert-level only — this isn’t a learning trail. You need rock sliders, differential guards, and someone who knows how to read granite. April through September offers the best conditions before summer heat makes the rocks too hot to touch. No permits needed, but fuel up in Uis because there’s nothing out here except ancient art and broken axles. The White Lady panel is worth every scraped skid plate, but most overlanders come for the technical challenge itself. This mountain sorts the posers from the proper 4WD crowd.
