The Dirty Mule is a site for overlanders and wheelers — people who drive trails, run rigs, and explore the parts of the map most people skip. It’s a place to find trails, plan trips, log your runs, and connect with other wheelers.
What you can do here
Browse the atlas. Trails, campsites, fuel stops, and other points of interest, all on one map. Filter by type, region, difficulty.
Plan trips. Build a trip from atlas entries, get road-following routes between stops, add custom POIs, share with a crew, and check off gear together as a group.
Track your runs. Mark trails as driven, rate them, contribute condition reports for other wheelers. Earn badges as you put in the miles.
Build a wheeler profile. Show off your rigs, document your trail history, set yourself up as someone other wheelers can reach.
Where to start
If you’re reading this and don’t have an account yet: create one. It’s free and unlocks everything below.
Once you’re in:
- Set up your profile. Add your name, location, and a short bio. See Building Your Wheeler Profile.
- Add your rig. What you drive matters to other wheelers. See Adding Rigs.
- Find a trail. Browse the atlas and pick something near you.
- Plan a trip. Once you find a few places that interest you, string them together into a trip. See Creating Your First Trip.
If you get stuck, every section of this documentation has a “what does this button do” article. Use the sidebar to find what you need.
