Yellowwood State Forest Fire Tower Trail

Trailhead

The Fire Tower Trail climbs through mature hardwood forest to a restored 1930s fire tower offering 360-degree views over the rolling hills of southern Indiana. It’s a 2.5-mile round trip with moderate elevation gain. The tower itself is climbable when open, providing views that stretch to Monroe Lake and the Hoosier National Forest. Trail is well-marked with yellow blazes.

Trailhead parking is small but adequate for most vehicles. Spring and fall offer the best visibility from the tower, though summer hiking means full shade for most of the route. The trail can be muddy after rain but remains passable for hikers in decent boots.
