Spoon River Dispersed Area
This unofficial dispersed area sits along the Spoon River south of London Mills, with scattered primitive sites in the river bottom timber. Most spots are just pull-offs with room for a few rigs, fire rings left by previous campers, and direct river access for water filtration. No facilities — pack it in, pack it out. Soft ground when wet, but solid during dry periods.
Access via gravel county roads that can get muddy after rain. Local hunters use it during fall seasons, otherwise pretty quiet. River level varies seasonally — summer can get shallow, spring and fall offer better flow. Popular with local anglers but unknown to most travelers passing through central Illinois.
