El Chiflon Waterfalls
El Chiflon’s five waterfalls drop through emerald pools connected by well-maintained trails and suspension bridges. The main cascade, Velo de Novia (Bridal Veil), plunges 120 meters into a turquoise lagoon perfect for swimming. Facilities include palapas, restrooms, and a small restaurant, but it gets packed with tour groups on weekends.
Access via Highway 190 then 8km on paved road through coffee plantations. Park entrance fee required. Best visited early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds. The trail to the upper falls is steep but manageable in regular footwear. Water levels peak during rainy season (June-October).
