BLM Sand Flats Recreation Area
This 9,000-acre BLM area offers dispersed camping on red sandstone slabs with panoramic views of the La Sal Mountains. Sites are scattered across the slickrock with fire rings already established by previous campers. No water or facilities, but vault toilets at the fee station. Gets busy during Jeep Safari and fall color season.
Day-use fee required even for camping. Access via a maintained dirt road that any vehicle can handle, though some camping spots require high clearance to reach. Fire restrictions typically May through September. Pay station operates on the honor system after hours.
