Buckhorn State Park
Buckhorn sits on a quiet arm of Castle Rock Flowage, about 45 minutes northwest of Wisconsin Dells. The campground has 42 sites scattered through oak and pine woods, most with electrical hookups. Sites 1-15 are closest to the water with decent lake views. The park stays relatively uncrowded even in summer — it’s off the main tourist circuit but close enough to resupply in Necedah or Mauston.
Access is via Highway 58 then County Road G — all paved but the final park road is narrow gravel. The boat launch handles most rigs fine, and there’s a small beach for swimming. Open May through October, though some facilities shut down after Labor Day. No cell service at most sites.
