Thompson Falls State Park occupies a narrow strip of cottonwood forest along the Clark Fork River below Thompson Falls Dam. The park has about 15 primitive campsites scattered through the trees, most suitable for tent camping or smaller rigs. Sites are first-come, first-served with fire rings and vault toilets. The river provides good trout fishing and kayak access, though the dam creates fluctuating water levels.
Access is via a short gravel road off Highway 200 in Thompson Falls. The park can get busy on summer weekends with local anglers and families. No drinking water is available, and sites are quite close together. Generator hours are restricted to preserve the quiet river setting.
