Bridger-Teton National Forest — New Fork River Upper Corridor Dispersed Camp
The upper New Fork River drainage cuts through open sage and lodgepole terrain west of Pinedale, offering flat, pull-off dispersed sites along the river corridor. Sites are unfenced and unmarked — you’re picking your own gravel bar or meadow edge. Wind River peaks dominate the eastern horizon. Expect anglers, horse packers, and the occasional elk hunter depending on season. No facilities, no trash service, pack it in pack it out. Cell service is effectively nonexistent once you leave the pavement.
Access is via the New Fork Lakes Road (Sublette County Road 23-119) heading northeast from US-191 north of Pinedale. Road is maintained gravel to the lakes, with rougher two-track spurs off it. High-clearance recommended on the spur tracks. Snow can linger into June and return early September. Standard 14-day USFS dispersed stay limit applies. Campfire restrictions are common mid-summer — check with the Pinedale Ranger District before you go.
Wind River views, river gravel, zero crowds.
