Gibb River Road — Silent Grove Creek Flat Dispersed Camp
This is classic Kimberley creek-flat camping — red dirt, paperbarks overhead, and the sounds of the bush at night. Sitting along the GRR corridor between Windjana Gorge turnoff and the Silent Grove Station track, this dispersed area sees rigs stopping to break up the run before or after hitting Bell Gorge. No facilities whatsoever, flat ground for a couple of rigs, and fire restrictions apply during the dry season — check DBCA advisories before you light anything. It fills up fast on weekends in peak season (June–August).
Access is standard GRR — corrugated dirt that’ll rattle your fillings loose if you don’t air down. High-clearance 4WD is the minimum; a 2WD has no business on this stretch. The creek crossing nearby can hold water after unseasonal rain, so scout before you commit. No signage marks this spot — it’s a recognised pull-off used by Kimberley regulars, not an official site.
