Croom Motorcycle Area Trail System
Florida's toughest sand and creek playground.
The Croom Motorcycle Area delivers Florida’s most challenging off-road experience across 2,600 acres of rolling sand hills and creek bottoms. This isn’t your typical flat Florida trail — expect steep climbs, deep sand pits, and multiple creek crossings including the notorious Hog Wallow Creek. The trail system connects through dense pine forest and palmetto scrub, with the infamous “Bone Yard” section testing even experienced riders with its rocky creek bed and steep banks.
Rated moderate to difficult depending on conditions, Croom demands high-clearance 4WD and aggressive tread for the sand. Wet season (June-September) creates the best traction but also the deepest water crossings. Day-use only facility with no camping, but nearby Withlacoochee State Forest offers primitive sites. Florida heat and humidity make early morning starts essential — this place will humble mall crawlers and reward serious dirt riders with legitimate technical challenges.
