Trans Euro Trail Central (TET-C) – Czech Republic Section
Europe's spine trail through Czech backcountry
The Czech section of the Trans Euro Trail runs 500 kilometers of forest tracks, abandoned mining roads, and mountain passes from the German border to Slovakia. You’ll thread through the Bohemian Forest’s spruce corridors, cross the Šumava’s peat bogs on wooden boardwalks, and climb technical rocky sections through the Krkonoše mountains where Wehrmacht bunkers still dot ridgelines.
This is legitimate backcountry riding requiring full adventure gear and navigation skills. Stock dual-sport motorcycles handle most sections, but a few rocky climbs demand good ground clearance and knobby tires. Best ridden May through October when snow clears the higher passes. Wild camping is generally permitted in forests, and small mountain huts offer shelter. The payoff is pure European wilderness threading between medieval castles and Soviet-era industrial ruins.
