Šumava National Park Borová Lada Campground
Set in dense spruce forest near the Vydra River, this established campground offers about 30 sites with fire rings and picnic tables. The place has that classic Central European forest vibe — thick woods, clean facilities, and trails leading straight into Šumava’s wilderness. Gets busy with German families in summer but stays manageable in shoulder seasons.
Access via a well-maintained gravel road off Route 4. The campground sits at about 1,100 meters elevation, so nights can be chilly even in summer. Drinking water available, decent cell coverage. Makes a solid basecamp for day hikes into the national park’s backcountry.
