Winthrop — Chevron and Town Resupply
Winthrop is a real working town dressed up in an Old West facade, and it’s the last place to get your act together before the pavement ends toward Hart’s Pass and the Methow backcountry. The Chevron on Highway 20 (East Chewuch Road area) keeps regular hours and handles standard unleaded and diesel. There’s a grocery store, a hardware store, and enough services to patch together a kit if you forgot something at home. Cell service is decent in town — use it.
Coming from the west on Highway 20, Winthrop is your last full resupply before Mazama (which has the Mazama Store but limited stock). Coming from the east off Highway 97, it’s the gateway to everything in the Methow. Stock up on water, fuel, and food here if you’re running multi-day routes into the Pasayten or over Hart’s Pass. Verify fuel station hours before arrival — shoulder season hours can vary.
Last full fuel before the Methow backcountry.
