Wildrose Campground — Death Valley National Park

Wildrose is the base camp for anyone running the Charcoal Kilns or pushing up to Wildrose Peak. Sits at around 4,100 feet in the canyon, which keeps it cooler than the valley floor — you’ll feel the difference immediately. Twenty-three sites spread across a tight canyon setting with some shade from the pinyon-juniper scrub. No water, no hookups, no fee. Pit toilets on site. It fills fast on spring weekends when the Panamint Range wildflowers hit.

The road into Wildrose is paved and accessible to any two-wheel-drive rig. Beyond camp toward Mahogany Flat, the road gets rougher and a high-clearance vehicle is required. No generators allowed in the canyon. Cell service is essentially nonexistent. Stock up on water in Pahrump or Ridgecrest before you roll in — there is nothing out here.
