Whiskeytown National Recreation Area Oak Bottom Campground
This 100-site campground sits on the shores of Whiskeytown Lake with direct access to swimming, fishing, and boating. Most sites can handle rigs up to 35 feet, with hookups available. The boat ramp is right there, making it a magnet for water sports crowds during summer. Restrooms, showers, and a camp store round out the amenities. Sites 1-22 are closest to the water but fill up fast.
Reserve well ahead for summer weekends — this place books solid. The lake is a former gold mining area, and you can still pan for gold in some sections. Fire restrictions common in summer. Open year-round, but winter can be wet and chilly with occasional snow.
