Warner Creek Dispersed Camping Area
Scattered sites along Warner Creek offer some of the most scenic high-country camping near the Front Range. At 10,200 feet elevation, you’re camping in subalpine meadows with the jagged peaks of the Continental Divide filling the western horizon. The creek runs year-round providing reliable water, and sites are naturally spaced among stands of Engelmann spruce and subalpine fir. Most spots accommodate rigs up to 25 feet, though a few larger clearings can handle bigger outfits.
Access via Forest Road 149 from Rollinsville — the road is rough but manageable for high-clearance vehicles when dry. Snow closes the area from November through May, and afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer. No facilities beyond fire rings at established sites. Popular with locals on weekends but midweek offers solitude. Altitude can be rough on sea-level folks — take it easy the first day.
