Wakhan Corridor — Sarhad-e Broghil Upper Valley Dispersed Camp
Sarhad-e Broghil sits at roughly 10,500 feet and marks the practical end of the road for vehicles running the Wakhan Corridor from Ishkashim. The valley floor widens just enough here to camp on the gravel and boulder-strewn flat above the village. A handful of expedition teams camp here each season before switching to horses or foot for the Broghil Pass crossing into Pakistan’s Chitral. The Hindu Kush rises sharply in every direction — this is one of the most remote motorable camps in Asia. No infrastructure, no services, no cell signal.
The upper corridor road from Khandud to Sarhad is extremely rough — rocky, narrow, and subject to rock falls and river crossings. Modified 4WD with high clearance is mandatory. Fuel does not exist past Ishkashim, so carry everything you need for the round trip or onward route. The village has limited ability to assist with vehicle recovery. Snow can close the upper valley from October through May.
End of the road. Hindu Kush above. Nothing beyond but pass.
