Wakhan Corridor — Qazideh Village Riverbank Dispersed Camp

Roughly 30 kilometers east of Ishkashim along the Wakhan road, the Panj River widens and the gravel benches on the Afghan side open up enough to pitch a small camp. This stretch near Qazideh is used by expedition teams and the handful of overlanders who run the corridor — flat ground, wind off the river, and a raw view across the water into the Tajik GBAO. No facilities whatsoever. You are camping on a riverbank in one of the most remote corridors on the planet, with Tajik border posts visible across the water.

Access is via the single-track dirt road hugging the Afghan side of the Panj. A permit from Afghan authorities and a military escort is typically required for this stretch — sort that in Faizabad or Ishkashim before you roll east. River levels fluctuate and can cut off sections of the low road in spring snowmelt. Coordinate with your escort on camp placement to avoid proximity issues with border posts.
