Vienna Shell Station and Deli
Small-town Shell station on IL-146 that serves as the primary fuel stop for overlanders heading into the Pounds Hollow and Burden Falls trail systems. The attached deli makes fresh sandwiches and serves surprisingly good breakfast, while the convenience store stocks basic camping supplies, ice, and firewood. Staff often have current conditions on forest roads and water levels at popular swimming holes.
Open early for forest access, closes around 10 PM. The only 24-hour fuel within 30 miles is in Marion. Parking area can accommodate larger rigs, and there’s usually space to air down tires before hitting the trails. Cash and cards accepted, but cell service can be spotty for card processing.
