Superior National Forest Sawbill Lake Road Dispersed Area
A well-known dispersed area along Forest Road 170 (Sawbill Trail) that serves overflow from the official Sawbill Lake Campground. Multiple established sites with fire rings scattered through dense boreal forest, most suitable for tent camping or small RVs. Gets heavy use during peak canoe season but offers good alternatives when the main campground fills.
Sawbill Trail is paved most of the way but the dispersed sites are accessed via short dirt spurs. Sites closest to the pavement get the most traffic. Water available from Sawbill Lake or the official campground facilities nearby. Prime time runs Memorial Day through Labor Day.
