Ronda — La Ciudad Partida and El Tajo Gorge Viewpoint
You’ve driven the length of the peninsula and this is where the Transibérica ends. El Tajo gorge splits the old city in two, and the Puente Nuevo — built 1751–1793 — hangs over a sheer 120-metre drop into the Guadalevín River below. Stand on the bridge at dusk and it earns its reputation. The old town side (La Ciudad) holds Roman walls, Moorish baths, and a bullring that dates to 1785. For overlanders finishing the route, Ronda is a proper decompression stop: fuel, food, resupply, and a cold Cruzcampo before the drive south to the coast.
The city sits at around 739 m elevation on the edge of the Serranía de Ronda. Approach from the north via the A-374 or the twisting MA-8401 from Grazalema — both are sealed but the latter rewards with limestone sierra views. Parking for larger rigs is easiest on the northern edge near the mercado. No off-road access required — this is a trail terminus, not a trailhead.
Trail's end on the edge of a 120m gorge.
