This early 1900s gold rush boomtown went from 10,000 residents to zero in just a decade, leaving behind substantial concrete ruins including a three-story bank building, train depot, and jail. The famous Bottle House, built entirely from 50,000 beer and liquor bottles, has been restored and is the town’s most photographed structure. An outdoor sculpture garden adds surreal modern art to the desert ruins.
Located just outside Death Valley National Park, the site is accessible year-round via paved road. No facilities or shade, so bring water and sun protection. The combination of authentic Wild West ruins and contemporary art installations makes this one of the Southwest’s most unique ghost towns.
