Quakertown State Recreation Area
This small state recreation area sits on a wooded bluff overlooking the East Fork of the Whitewater River, offering 25 primitive campsites scattered through mature hardwoods. Sites are spacious and well-separated, with most featuring fire rings and picnic tables but no hookups. The campground stays relatively quiet even on weekends, drawing locals for fishing and kayaking rather than RV crowds.
Access is via a paved park road off State Road 1, about 15 miles south of Richmond. The park operates seasonally from April through October, with vault toilets and a hand pump well providing basic amenities. Sites fill up during fall color season but remain available most other times without reservations.
