Pine Ridge Recreation Area Dispersed Sites

Pine Ridge Recreation Area offers dispersed camping scattered along forest roads in the Nebraska National Forest’s Bessey unit. Sites are tucked between ponderosa pines with decent spacing for privacy, though the area sees moderate use from hunters during fall seasons. Fire rings are present at most established spots, with vault toilets at the main recreation area about a mile from the dispersed zone.

Access is via maintained gravel roads suitable for any vehicle, though some sites require short spurs on rougher dirt tracks. The area sits at higher elevation than surrounding prairie, providing cooler temperatures and occasional cell signal from nearby towers. Water is available at the main recreation area but not at individual sites.
