Pine Creek Gorge Overlook
This classic overlook provides the money shot into Pine Creek Gorge, Pennsylvania’s answer to the Grand Canyon with 1,000-foot limestone cliffs dropping to the meandering creek below. The vista spans nearly 50 miles of carved canyon, particularly spectacular during October’s peak foliage when the hardwood forest explodes in reds and golds. A short paved trail leads to multiple viewpoints, with the main platform offering unobstructed views both up and down canyon.
Located along US Route 6 between Ansonia and Wellsboro, the overlook gets crowded during fall weekends but remains peaceful on weekdays. The access road is paved with a decent-sized parking area that handles RVs, though the turnaround gets tight when tour buses show up. Early morning visits offer the best light and fewer crowds.
