Fire restrictions are common during dry seasons, and weather can change rapidly above treeline.
Access via the Pikes Peak toll road requires a fee during operating hours, but dispersed camping is permitted in designated areas. Road is paved but steep with switchbacks. Sites fill quickly on summer weekends. Snow typically closes the upper road from October through May, making these spots seasonal only.
