Parque Nacional Constitución de 1857 — Laguna Hanson Campground

Established Campground

Laguna Hanson sits at roughly 5,500 feet inside Parque Nacional Constitución de 1857, a sky-island pine-and-oak forest tucked into the Sierra Juárez east of Ensenada. The established campground is a small, sandy clearing along the lakeshore surrounded by granite outcrops and ponderosa pine. Expect cold nights even in summer, morning frost from October onward, and a profound quiet you won’t find anywhere near the coast. No hookups, no showers — a few pit toilets and fire rings, that’s the deal. Small fee collected by the park entrance, payable in cash to the ejido caretaker.

Access from Valle de la Trinidad heads west on a graded dirt road (~25 miles) that turns rough and rocky in the final miles — high-clearance 4WD recommended in wet conditions. The road is also reachable from Ojos Negros to the west. Snow can close access December through February. Bring your own water — the lake is not potable.
