Palmwag Lodge Campground — Palmwag Concession

Palmwag Lodge runs a proper campsite on the edge of the 5,700 sq km Palmwag Concession, one of the largest wildlife conservancies in Africa. Sites are shaded by Ana trees along the Uniab riverbed, with ablution blocks, braai stands, and cold drinks at the bar when you need them. This is genuine desert wilderness — black rhino tracks in the sand at breakfast are normal. It can get busy during Namibian school holidays but is quiet most of the year. Generator hours apply; bring your own fuel or top up at Palmwag Lodge before pushing north toward Sesfontein.

Access is via the C43 gravel road from Khorixas, roughly 170 km of washboard and loose gravel — manageable in high-clearance 2WD when dry but takes time. GPS is your friend; the turnoff is signed but easily missed at speed. Water and meals available at the lodge. No fuel sold on-site — plan accordingly.
