This mountain resort fuel station sits at the base of Northstar ski area, serving as the final fuel stop before you commit to the winding forest roads that lead to Stampede Reservoir, Boca Reservoir, and the dispersed camping areas along the Commemorative Overland Emigrant Trail corridor. Clean facilities, decent prices for a resort area, and a small convenience store with basic trail snacks. Gets busy during ski season but quieter spring through fall.

From here it’s about 15 miles of paved and gravel roads to reach the serious dispersed camping areas near Stampede. If you’re running low on fuel after exploring the high country, this is your safety net before dropping back into Truckee proper.
