National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum — Leadville

Point of Interest

If you’re running the Mineral Belt Trail or any of the San Isabel high routes, this museum is the Rosetta Stone for everything you’re looking at out there. The National Mining Hall of Fame sits right downtown on Vine Street — a big Victorian brick building you can’t miss. Inside you’ll find a walk-through replica mine tunnel, ore specimen displays, period equipment, and exhibits on the miners who built and broke Leadville. It’s genuinely good, not just “educational.” Plan 90 minutes minimum.

Located in downtown Leadville at 120 West 9th Street — easy parking, no high-clearance needed. Open seasonally, typically May through October. Admission fee applies. Good fuel, food, and grocery resupply options within two blocks. This is your pre-trail briefing stop before heading up into the historic mining districts on Iowa Gulch or the Mineral Belt loop.

Leadville's mining soul under one roof.
