Mount Remarkable Summit Lookout
The 960-meter summit of Mount Remarkable offers commanding views from Spencers Gulf in the west to the maze of ridges and gorges stretching north through the Flinders Ranges. The lookout platform sits atop weathered quartzite cliffs, with the geometric patterns of surrounding wheat country spread out far below. On clear days, you can see the Gawler Ranges and even the distant shimmer of Lake Torrens salt flats.
Access via the 3km walking track from the car park off Remarkable Road, or for the hardcore, the old 4WD track that winds up the eastern slope — though it’s rough enough to challenge even modified rigs. Best light is late afternoon when the ranges glow red-gold. Popular spot for sunrise shoots but expect company on weekends.
