Nine primitive sites scattered along a small creek in a pocket of ponderosa pine — unusual for the Nebraska sandhills. Basic amenities with fire rings, tables, and vault toilets, but no water. Sites are spread out enough for privacy, and the tall grass prairie mixed with scattered trees feels more like Colorado than Nebraska.
Access is via decent gravel roads that can get soft after rain. Popular with hunters in fall, but otherwise quiet. No reservations, first-come basis. Bring water and expect no cell service. Good base camp for exploring the surrounding forest roads and prairie country.
