Marshall Pass Continental Divide Overlook
Marshall Pass sits on the Continental Divide with commanding views in every direction — the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the east and the Sawatch Range to the west. This was a key railroad route in the late 1800s, and remnants of the old railbed are still visible. The pass offers excellent photo opportunities and a chance to stretch legs while running the high country between Salida and Gunnison.
Accessible via a good gravel road from either US-50 or US-285, though snow can close it from November through April. No facilities here — just the overlook and historical markers. Strong winds are common at this elevation, so secure loose gear. Popular with motorcyclists and ATV riders during summer months.
