Manantial El Salto Natural Spring

Water Source

This natural spring bubbles up from the mountainside at nearly 7,000 feet, creating a small but deep swimming hole surrounded by pine and oak forest. The water runs cold year-round and tastes clean—locals have used it for generations. A rough stone dam creates a deeper pool perfect for cooling off after dusty mountain driving. The setting feels ancient, with moss-covered rocks and the sound of water echoing off canyon walls.

Reach it via 8 kilometers of increasingly rough ranch roads from the village of Cuzalapa. The final approach requires 4WD and careful navigation—trail forks aren’t marked. Best visited during dry season when creek crossings are manageable.
